One World Education is thrilled to announce its new partnership with Higher Achievement, a nationally renowned nonprofit organization that provides rigorous and engaging out-of-school time programming to more than 1,200 middle school students in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Richmond, and Washington, DC. For over forty years, Higher Achievement has been passionate about closing the opportunity gap for students in underserved communities, and their proven approach garnered a prestigious U.S. Department of Education Investing in Innovation (i3) grant in 2015.

This summer, we will be implementing our signature One World Program at seven of Higher Achievement’s Summer Academies in the Washington, DC area, based at public and public charter schools across the District and in Alexandria, VA. This will be our first foray into summer programming, which aligns perfectly with the duration of our program, affording students the opportunity to hone critical research and writing skills while preventing summer learning loss, as well as to explore social justice issues with personal meaning and relevance.

Please stay tuned for blog posts over the course of the summer highlighting this exciting new partnership and the direct impact it will have on boosting students’ writing outcomes.
