It was standing-room only at the One World Academy family orientation last week and our middle school students are now choosing their social justice topics to research.

One student is writing about child abuse, having been abused as a child. Another is writing about the pervasive threat of carjacking. She hears her mother’s fear. A young man who lives near Gallaudet is writing about the discrimination he witnesses deaf students facing in our city.

See our students work and hear their voices. Register now for the One World Challenge on April 26th.

One World Launches New Afterschool Academy Hub in Ward 8

In partnership with Friendship SE Public Charter School, One World recently launched its first afterschool One World Academy Hub. Three afternoons a week for 10 weeks students are learning to craft stellar essays and deliver powerful presentations. This new program is driving learning directly in the communities in which our students live and is made possible with a grant from Learn24. Stay tuned for more information from our first One World Academy Hub!
