As we close One World’s nineteenth year, I want to thank every student, teacher, family member, donor, partner, staff member, and Board member who has been part of this journey.

This short video captures reflections I shared at the recent One World Challenge. Stay until the end to hear about the best decision I made for One World.

When we launched One World, we believed that young people deserved opportunities to find their voice through writing. Almost twenty years later, more than 65,000 students have participated in our programs. Along the way, One World has become the largest writing program in DC schools, earned two Library of Congress Literacy Awards, and been recognized repeatedly as one of the city’s highest-performing programs.

I leave this role with immense gratitude and confidence in One World’s future. Summer Xavier is an exceptional leader, supported by a talented staff, a dedicated Board of Directors, and a community that has always believed in the power of young people. Thank you for being part of this remarkable story.

The next chapter begins now. I hope you will continue investing in One World’s mission and in Summer’s leadership as we work together to serve the next generation of thinkers and writers.
