Anna ProwBoard Chair: Anna Prow

Anna Prow currently serves as a field operations manager and non-profit governance professional in the sector of international development.  She's been at National Democratic Institute (NDI) since 2005 in the role of Deputy Director of Operations.  Anna also is a member of the Board of Governors of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and the HRC local steering committee co-chair.

While she has full experience in international development, she seeks to bring her skills and strengths in service to domestic education through membership on the One World Education board.  Her dedication to education and community service is evident in her career history.  She started her career as a public high school teacher in Smithfield, Virginia, giving her familiarity with daily life in the classroom as well as with education policy and socioeconomic and other factors addecting education.  She went on to service as a teacher trainer Peace Corps volunteer in Madagascar.  She possess academic insight into domestic social and political issues through a Master's in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from the rigorous and applied program at The New School in New York, NY.  And more recently she acted as academic director of a study-abroad program in the capital city of Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Anna is excited to be on the board of OWEd and eager to use her strengths in support of OWEd's growth & development.

Gregory Roberts PicVice-Chair: Gregory Roberts

Greg has been a part of the student affairs profession for over 35 years. As a proud ACPA member since 1974, his experience includes service at public, private, secular and non-secular institutions throughout the United States. His most recent posting prior to his leadership role at ACPA in 2003 was Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of St. Thomas - Minnesota, a position he held for eleven years.

Throughout the years, Greg has authored numerous articles, taught leadership courses and served as president of ACPA and the Missouri College Personnel Association. He earned his B.Sc. and M.S. from Indiana University - Bloomington, Educational Specialist degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and certificate in educational management from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Delta Kappa. In addition to serving on One World Education's Boards he is also the Chair of the Washington Internship Institute and is a member of the following boards: Washington Higher Education Secretariat (WHES), Council of Higher Education Management Associations (CHEMA), American Council on Education, Rotary Club of Capitol Hill, BACCHUS Network.

 

Patrick

Board Treasurer: Patrick Mara

Patrick Mara is Principal Owner of the Dolan Group, LLC. In this capacity he provides not-for-profit and other community organizations with fundraising and government relations consulting services. He previously served as Manager of Government Relations at ML Strategies, LLC, where he advocated for education, clean energy and technology interests. Patrick is a past contractor at the Department of Energy and NREL where he specialized in renewable energy and green transportation projects. He began his career on the staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

Patrick previously served as a mentor to 9th grade students at the Maya Angelou Public Charter School in Shaw and as a mentor to three different DC Public School students in the Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund Program. He currently tutors a neighborhood DCPS student weekly through Project Northstar and sits on the Board of the Columbia Heights Day Initiative. He is a past board member of Hope for Kids, an organization involved in providing clothing for underprivileged children in D.C. Patrick is also Vice President of the Marist College Alumni Executive Board, his undergraduate alma mater. He is a life member of the Appalachian Mountain Club.

 

Candace HCandace B. Hollingsworth

Candace is a management consultant and emerging thought leader on best practices in the nonprofit sector.  Her work draws on her experiences in the private and public sectors to help organizations identify creative and effective solutions to everyday challenges including capacity-building, leadership, managing with Gen Y, and leveraging technology.  She brings to One World Education specific expertise in resource development and grants management including demonstrated skill in managing complex and far-reaching projects, leading business process improvement, database development and coordination of independent research.

Candace holds a BA from Emory University and an MPP in Education, Family and Social Policy from Georgetown University.  Her research interests include high school reform and accountability, student preparation, persistence and retention, achievement and expectations gaps, and urban renewal and school choice. When not working to grow local organizations, she is volunteering her time as a tutor to young men at DeMatha Catholic High School and as Vice-President of the Hyattsville Elementary School PTA. She resides in Hyattsville, MD with her husband and two small children.


Chris DChristopher Dubia

Christopher joined Qatar Foundation International in the fall of 2009 as Technology Counsel to strategically position QFI as a leader and innovator in the field of technology. Under Christopher's guidance, technology has become an engine that drives QFI's mission and enables its programmatic focus on education, community engagement and health.  Prior to joining QFI, Christopher has worked extensively for the past decade in a range of independent and private educational settings, providing institutional solutions to the problems of knowledge sharing and collaboration in a global community. Under Christopher's leadership, these institutions were able to incorporate technology as an integral feature of their administrative and academic programs.

Working with development teams, Christopher created networks and platforms that increased efficiency, improved work flow, and allowed for extensive collaboration and knowledge sharing using social networking tools.  Also, as a practicing artist, Christopher has exhibited his work extensively. His photographs have been shown at exhibitions in a number of countries, including Cuba, Uruguay, Germany and the United States. Christopher was co-founder of the Center for Collaborative Art and Visual Education (CAVE), and developed CAVE as a community arts organization for both youth and adults.  Christopher is a published author, and his book "Welcome Home" collects some of his recent works.

Alicia Powers

Alicia D. Powers, Ph.D. is the owner of Eco-FLIP, LLC, a personal energy management company. She has over 14 years of evaluation experience in the non-profit and public sector.  Her experience includes conducting local, state and national policy research, leading large-scale multi-site program evaluations and reporting research findings to diverse audiences. She has presented her research findings at several national conferences and agencies. Her teaching experience includes teaching fifth grade in District of Columbia Public Schools and teaching data analysis to management graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Maryland University College Graduate School of Management and Technology.

Dr. Powers earned a B.A. in Cognitive Science and Statistics from Rice University and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University. She has worked on projects with various organizations including the Children's Defense Fund, Ohio Department of Education-Reading First, U.S. Department of Education-Office of English Language Acquisition, the National Science Foundation-Office of Research, Evaluation, and Communication and Urban Institute. 

Gretchen PicGretchen Martens

Ms. Martens has worked as an educator, trainer, youth development specialist, organizational development specialist and coach, and team-builder for more than 20 years.  Her life’s calling is to promote global citizenship and sustainable leadership that begins in the family, nurturing a new generation of leaders who recreate our grandchildren's future through compassionate leadership, interdependent teamwork, relationships of trust, and effective communication.  Ms. Martens is the founder and CEO of Homeward Deployed, a nonprofit organization that provides free family coaching and support services for military families through a parent’s deployment.  Prior to founding Homeward Deployed, she worked as Director of Development and Communications for a community based nonprofit and as a nonprofit capacity building consultant.  Prior to working in the nonprofit world, Ms. Martens founded and managed Whitewater Families, a coaching firm that provided family coaching and family team-building.  Ms. Martens wrote an SBA award-winning business plan for Whitewater Families.

Ms. Martens holds a B.A. in anthropology from Cornell University and an M.A. in anthropology from The University of Michigan.  She has completed her coursework for a PhD in education at The U of M.

 

Danny Hollinger PicJ Daniel Hollinger

Danny Hollinger establishes and improves schools and education programs, and builds high-performing teams. Dr. Hollinger specializes in International Baccalaureate Programmes, inquiry-based education, business development, teacher training, faculty and organization culture improvement, executive coaching and strategic planning. He also works with schools, universities and organizations to develop and offer education online.

Prior to consulting, Dr. Hollinger founded and led two international schools – transitioning them from start-up to full-scale operations. He developed dual-language immersion, International Baccalaureate Programmes in Arabic, English, French, Greek, Mandarin and Spanish. He built and led high-performing and collaborative faculty, management and leadership teams. Dr. Hollinger established partnerships with corporations, foundations, governments, schools and universities worldwide. He acquired and developed five campuses. Dr. Hollinger’s board and related service includes Northern California University, George Mason University FAST TRAIN Program, Next Generation Education Foundation, One World Education and the Association of Independent Schools of Greater Washington. 


Nancy Ingraham Pic

Nancy Ingraham

Dr. Nancy Ingraham is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in D.C., Maryland and Virginia.  She works for the District of Columbia Department of Mental Health in Forensic Legal Services.  Dr. Ingraham also works in private practice in Arlington, Virginia, providing individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, as well as psychological testing.  While earning her Doctorate, Nancy completed an externship from 1999 to 2001 in the D.C. Public Schools, providing individual therapy and psychological testing to children.  She worked closely with teachers and administrators and observed first hand the difficulties children in our public schools experience.  Dr. Ingraham has been a resident of the District of Columbia for the past 17 years and earned a Doctorate in Psychology from George Washington University in 2002.  Nancy completed the Marine Corp Marathon in 2007.

 

Patricia Munoz Pic

Patricia Munoz-Chernitsky

Patricia is a financial consultant who has worked with both National, and local non-profits in the DC area for over 20 years, including The Environmental Support Center, National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, Fair Chance DC and Turning the Page.  She is an expert in the field of fiscal management, budgeting and financial analysis as well as in administrative and audit systems implementation.  She has overseen the overhaul and fist audits of many of the areas' non-profit organizations and has worked extensively with one of the leading non-profit accounting firms in the area.   The mother of two sons, she attended Georgetown University and has lived in the DC Metro Area for 23 years.
