2016 One World Celebration

On April 13, 2016 we honored the 9th class of One World Student Ambassadors! See event photos below.

The One World Celebration is an annual event recognizing our new Ambassadors. These students, who have participated in the One World Program, are nominated by their teachers to be published on One World Education’s website in the Student Writing Library.  New this year, the Ambassadors will be meeting several times, one-on-one, with American University students who will serve as Writing Mentors and work with them to refine and polish their essays. At their orientation on February 24th, 20 students in grades 6 through 12 got to meet the 15 AU students they will be working with and dove into revisions immediately. Check out some photos below.

We also presented scholarship checks to the amazing winners of our College and Career Senior Challenge, held in December.

And finally, three teachers received the Global Educator Award in recognition of their achievements in integrating cultural and global issues in their writing instruction. After the ceremony, all teachers - those who have students at the ceremony as well as those who have participated in our program over the years - are invited to come downstairs to the Teacher Appreciation Social and have a drink and food on us to thank you for your hard work!
